Gordon Ettie has been in the business world for the
over 30 years as an executive, consultant, and investor
— and regardless of the industry, technology, or
product, he has seen a decline in the ability of
managers, executives and entrepreneurs, to understand
and embrace the fundamentals of business. The
culmination of his experiences has led him to publish
his new book in the fall of 2005, Demystifying Business
with Cookies and Elephants.
As an Executive Affiliate for Hamilton Robinson, LLC, a
Stamford, CT firm that participates in private equity
company buyouts, Ettie finds companies to buy and also
invests personally in these companies. He is an investor

In the past few years he has consulted for Baker Hughes,
with $6 billion in annual sales, and Alfa Laval, a
Swedish company with over $1.5 billion in annual sales.
He has held numerous high-level positions in an array of
businesses. At Hosokawa Micron International, Inc., he
served as president of three different divisions,
including HMII Americas Group, which had annual revenues
of $150 million. Ettie is a senior executive with
extensive management experience on a global level in the
manufacturing and marketing of equipment, parts and
systems to a wide range of manufacturing, industrial,
and environmental industries.
He has held positions ranging from company President to
VP of Marketing and VP of New Business Development. He
has directed initiatives in strategic planning,
licensing, marketing, sales, advertising, and
production. He has also led investment groups seeking
acquisitions and buyouts.
Ettie, who has been granted two United States patents,
serves on the board of directors of several companies,
including Dexter Magnetic Technologies ($50 million in
annual sales - high tech firm in medical, computer, and
oil industries) and the Fitzpatrick Company, with $25
million in annual sales, which makes grinding and
compaction equipment for the pharmaceutical and chemical
industries.
He's also a past board member of Aveka and of Bend
Research Inc. Ettie is an investor in several companies,
including Black Clawson Converting Machinery (makes
equipment for laminating plastic films and converting
all kinds of plastic and other materials into sheets or
film), this company has now been put into a joint
venture with over $220 million in annual sales, and is
now called Davis Standard. He also is an investor in
PetroReal, a company that drills for gas and oil.
He is a founding member of the Filtration Society of
America, as well as a past board member of both the
American Feed Industry Association and Process Equipment
Manufacturers Association.
